IMG_1706If your goal is to lose weight and get healthy you’re going to need more than a calorie counting pedometer to get the job done. While most people think exercise is the key to weight loss, the truth is a healthy diet is really the foundation. It could be said that successful weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. So in order to shed some serious pounds and see a lasting change, you’re going to need to start trading in some of those bad food habits for healthier ones.

Below are just a few healthy and delicious snacks that are 100 calories or less. Next time you’re hungry for a snack, ignore the chips or candy and reach for one of these nutritious snacks that won’t sabotage your hard work.

Yogurt
Yogurt is a great low calorie treat, and with so many flavors to choose from you can take on any craving. Be sure to look for low fat varieties. Frozen yogurt is also a good alternative for those ice cream cravings.

Baby Carrots
Baby carrots have a great crunch and when combined with hummus or peanut butter, they can be a filling treat without all the calories of potato chips.

Peanuts and Dried Cherries
Sweet, salty and crunchy, this dynamic duo is a great snack on the go. Add sunflower seed kernels for some extra protein and flavor. Just watch out for salt. Adding salted peanuts and sunflower seed kernels can dehydrate you.

Popcorn
Popcorn is a personal favorite. It’s light, it’s crunchy, and it’s filling. Just be sure not to get the microwave kind. Making popcorn on the stovetop with coconut oil, or in an air popper is much healthier and does not contain all the artificial ingredients found in microwavable popcorn.
